सङ्कल्पो विदित: साध्व्यो भवतीनां मदर्चनम् ।
मयानुमोदित: सोऽसौ सत्यो भवितुमर्हति ॥
न मय्यावेशितधियां काम: कामाय कल्पते ।
भर्जिता क्वथिता धाना: प्रायो बीजाय नेशते ॥
saṅkalpo viditaḥ sādhvyo bhavatināṁ mad-arcanam |
mayānumoditaḥ so’sau satyo bhavitum arhati ||
na mayy āveśita-dhiyāṁ kāmaḥ kāmāya kalpate |
bharjitāḥ kvathitā dhānā prāyo bījāya neśate ||

“[Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa to the gopīs who worshipped Kātyāyanī to attain him as their husband:] O honorable girls, your resolve (saṅkalpa) in worshipping me is understood. It is approved by me and fit to become true. The desire of those whose minds are absorbed in me does not lead to desire [i.e., desire for anything else]. Do fried and boiled roasted grains likely act as seed?”
Commentary
mad-arcanaṁ pati-bhāvamaya-mad-ārādhanātmako bhavatīnāṁ saṅkalpo vidito’numoditaś ca san satyaḥ sarvadā tādṛśa-mad-arcanāvyabhicārī bhavitum arhati yujyata eva | sa ca parama-premavatīnāṁ nānyavat phalāntarāpekṣaḥ, kintu svayam evāsvādyaḥ | yataḥ—na mayy āveśita-dhiyām iti | mayy āveśita-dhiyām ekānta-bhakta-mātrāṇāṁ kāmo mad-arcanātmakaḥ saṅkalpaḥ kāmāya phalāntarābhilāṣāya na kalpate, kintu svayam evāsvādyo bhavatīty arthaḥ | … dhānā bhṛṣṭa-yavāḥ, tāḥ svarūpata eva bharjitāḥ, punaḥ svāda-viśeṣārthaṁ ghṛtena vā bharjitā guḍādibhiḥ kvathitāś ca satyo bījāya bījatvāya neśate na kalpante | yavavat tābhir anya-yava-phalanaṁ neṣyate, kintu tā evāsvādyanta ity arthaḥ | tasmāt tādṛśa-mad-arcanam eva bhavatīnāṁ parama-phalam iti bhāvaḥ |

“[Śrī Kṛṣṇa to the gopīs:] Your resolve (saṅkalpa) in worshiping me, that is, consisting of worship of me filled with bhāva for [me as] a husband, being understood and approved [by me], is certainly fit, that is, suited, to become true, that is, [to become] constant and uninterrupted worship of me as such. That [i.e., that resolve], furthermore, of you all who are possessed of superlative prema [for me], is not, like others, in expectation of another result [i.e., your resolve to worship me is not like the resolve of others whose worship of me is performed only as a means of pursuing some other attainment]. Rather, it is relishable in and of itself as per [the following statement] na mayy āveśita-dhiyāṁ …: the ‘desire’ (kāmaḥ), that is, the resolve (saṅkalpa) constituted of worship of me, ‘of those whose minds are absorbed in me’ (mayy āveśita-dhiyāṁ), that is, of one-pointed bhaktas in particular, ‘does not lead to desire’ (kāmāya kalpate), that is, to desire for any other result. Rather, it [i.e., that desire] is relishable [i.e., fulfilling] in and of itself alone [and thus one has no further desire for anything else]. This is the meaning. … ‘Roasted grains’ (dhānā) refers to roasted barley. That, by its very nature, is [already] roasted. When that further is fried in ghee and boiled with gur and so forth for the sake of [giving it] a special taste, then that [i.e., such barley] cannot act as seed (bījāya neṣyate). Other barley [i.e., a new crop of barley] cannot be produced by them [i.e., by barley grains that have been roasted, fried, and boiled as aforementioned] as with barley [as grains that has not been roasted, fried, and boil in this way can be planted to produce a new crop of barley]. They alone, however, are relishable [i.e., only these barley grains that have been roasted, fried, and boiled as aforementioned are tasty and satisfying to eat; those that have not been so prepared and can be used to produce new barley crops are not relishable to eat]. This is the meaning. Therefore, such worship of me [i.e., service to me as your husband] is itself the supreme result for you all [i.e., the ultimate result of your worship of me with the bhāva of me being your husband is your attainment of me as such along with the ongoing opportunity to worship me in that way; because you all did not worship me to attain any other result, you all will not attain any other result, and because of your sole desire is to worship me as your husband, you will find the result of your worship, that is, your attainment of that very form of worship of me, fully relishable and satisfying and thus have no further desire for anything else].”
