यस्मिन्सत्कर्णपीयुषे यशस्तीर्थवरे सकृत् ।
श्रोत्राञ्जलिरुपस्पृश्य धुनुते कर्मवासनाम् ॥

yasmin sat-karṇa-pīyuṣe yaśas-tīrtha-vare sakṛt |
śrotrāñjalir upaspṛśya dhunute karma-vāsanām ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 9.24.62)

“One who with the cupped hands of the ears once sips the nectar for the ears of sādhus, the excellent tīrtha [i.e., sacred water] of his [i.e., Bhagavān’s] glory, dispels [i.e., purifies oneself of] [all] inclinations (vāsanās) for karma.”

Commentary

sakṛd apy upaspṛśyācamana-mātraṁ kṛtvā tat-saundaryākṛṣṭa-cittaḥ san karma-vāsanāṁ dhunute |

“After having even once just sipped (upaspṛśya) [the excellent tīrtha of his glory], one becomes attracted at heart by his beauty and dispels [all] inclinations for karma.”

upaspṛśya ācamana-mātraṁ kṛtvā kiṁ punar āpīya sakṛd eka-vāram api kiṁ punar bahuśaḥ karma-vāsanām avidyāṁ, yasya parokṣa-vartino’pi yat kiñcid yaśaḥ-caraṇāravinda-mātreṇaiva saṁsāraṁ tarantīty arthaḥ |
(Excerpt from the Sārārtha-darśinī-ṭīkā)

“One dispels [all] inclinations for karma, that is, ignorance (avidyā), by even once (sakṛd) just sipping (upaspṛśya) [the excellent tīrtha of his glory], so all the more does one do so by drinking it, and all the more again by repeatedly [drinking it]. Just by [hearing] something of the glory of his lotus feet even when he is out of sight [i.e., not present as an avatāra in the world], one crosses over saṁsāra. This is the meaning.”
