सङ्गं न कुर्यादसतां शिश्नोदरतृपां क्वचित् ।
तस्यानुगस्तमस्यन्धे पतत्यन्धानुगान्धवत् ॥
saṅgaṁ na kuryād asatāṁ śiśnodara-tṛpāṁ kvacit |
tasyānugas tamasy andhe pataty andhānugāndha-vat ||

“One should never engage in saṅga with the asat, gratifiers of the genitals and belly. A follower of him [i.e., even one of the asat], like a blind person following a [i.e., another] blind person, falls into blinding darkness [i.e., Naraka].”
Commentary
tathāpi saṅgaṁ varjayed ity āha—saṅgam iti | asatāṁ lakṣaṇam āha—śiśnodare tarpayantīti śiśnodara-tṛpas teṣāṁ kvacit kadācid api, āstāṁ tavad bahūnāṁ saṅgaḥ, kintu tasyaikasyāpy anugo’nuvartī andham anugacchati yo’ndhas tadvat |

“Still [i.e., even if one is a jīvan-mukta], one should abandon saṅga. Thus, he [i.e., Śrī Kṛṣṇa] says: saṅgam … [i.e., he speaks this verse]. He describes the characteristics of the asat: they gratify the genitals and belly. Thus, [śiśnodara-tṛpāṁ means] of they who are gratifiers of the genitals and belly. Kvacit means ever at all [i.e., combined with na, it means never]. [Thus,] First of all, let alone the saṅga of many of those who are such, a ‘follower’ (anugaḥ) of any one of them [falls into blinding darkness] like a blind person following a [i.e., another] blind person.”

evaṁ-bhūto’py asat-saṅgaṁ na kuryāt, kiṁ punar anyo naivaṁ-bhūta ity āha—saṅgam iti | asatāṁ lakṣaṇam āha—śiśnodare tarpayantīti tathā teṣāṁ kiṁ ca teṣāṁ bahūnāṁ saṅga āstām, ekasyāpi tasyānugo’nuvartī patati |

“Even when of such nature [i.e., even when one is a jīvan-mukta], one should not engage in asat-saṅga, much less should anyone else who is not of such nature [i.e., one who is not a jīvan-mukta and rather a conditioned jīva, ever engage in it]. Thus, he [i.e., Śrī Kṛṣṇa] says saṅgam … [i.e., he speaks this verse]. He describes the characteristics of the asat: they gratify the genitals and belly. Thus, let alone the saṅga of them, or of many of them, a follower (anugaḥ) of even one of them falls down.”
