(Hari-bhakti-vilāsa: 10.294)

“Now, the faults of asat-saṅga [are described]: Saṅga with the asat, as a result of which the loss of all objects shall occur and downfall ensues, is not to be done at any time.”

Commentary

(Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā)

“Thus having shown saṅga and service to the sat [in the prior section of the text], for the sake of [producing] firmness of that in particular, the author describes abandonment of asat-saṅga: asadbhiḥ … [i.e., he composes this verse]. ‘Loss’ (hāniḥ), that is, dissolution, of all objects of this world and of the next world, that is, of all means (sādhanas) and goals (sādhyas), shall occur [as a result of saṅga to the asat], and not only that specifically, but ‘downfall’ (adhaḥpātaḥ), that is, suffering in Naraka and so forth, also ensues.”
