caitanyacandrera kṛpā hañāche i̐hāre

caitanyacandrera kṛpā hañāche i̐hāre |
caitanyacandrera ‘vātula’ ke rākhite pāre? ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 3.6.41)

[Śrī Dāsa Gosvāmī’s father tells his mother:] “Śrī Caitanyacandra’s grace has come upon him. Who can detain a man mad for Caitanyacandra?”

nirupadhi hi prema kathañcid apy upadhiṁ na sahata iti

nirupadhi hi prema kathañcid apy upadhiṁ na sahata iti pūrvārdhe bhagavatoḥ kṛṣṇa-rādhayor anupadhi-prema śrutvā tad eva puruṣārthīkṛtam | bhagavatā mukha-pidhānaṁ cāsya tad-rahasyatva-prakāśakam |
(Caitanya-candrodaya-nāṭakam: 7.17)

“Guileless prema does not tolerate any sort of guile. After hearing of Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā’s guile-free prema in the first half [of the verse], Bhagavān determined it to be the puruṣārtha, and Bhagavān’s covering his [i.e., Rāmānanda’s] mouth is indicative of its [i.e., the statement in the first half of the verse’s] confidentiality [alt., it is indicative of the confidentiality between them, i.e., Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa].”

dhṛta-phaṇa iva bhogī gāruḍīyasya gānaṁ

dhṛta-phaṇa iva bhogī gāruḍīyasya gānaṁ
tad-uditam atiratyākarṇayan sāvadhānam |
vyadhikaraṇatayā vānanda-vaivaśyato vā
prabhur atha kara-padmenāsyāpy adhatta ||
(Caitanya-candrodaya-nāṭakam: 7.16)

“Like a snake with its hood drawn out listening to the song of a snake-charmer, Prabhu listened attentively with great delight to his [i.e., Rāmānanda Rāya’s] statement and then stopped him [from speaking any further] with his lotus hand either because of incongruity [i.e., because this was not the time he wanted this secret revealed] or because he was overwhelmed with bliss.”

‘sukṛti-labhya phelā-lava’ bole bāra-bāra

‘sukṛti-labhya phelā-lava’ bole bāra-bāra |
īśvara-sevaka puche—prabhu! ki artha ihāra ||
prabhu kahe—ei ye dilā kṛṣṇādharāmṛta |
brahmādi-durlabha ei—nindaye amṛta ||
kṛṣṇera ye bhukta-śeṣa, tāra ‘phelā’ nāma |
tāra eka lava pāya, se-i bhāgyavān ||
sāmānya bhāgya haite tāra prāpti nāhi haya |
kṛṣṇera yāte pūrṇa kṛpā, sei tāhā pāya ||
sukṛti-śabde kahe—kṛṣṇa-kṛpā-hetu puṇya |
sei yāra haya, phelā pāya sei dhanya ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 3.16.96–100)

“Prabhu said again and again, ‘A morsel of phelā attainable by sukṛti.’ The servants of Īśvara asked, ‘Prabhu, what is the meaning of this?’ Prabhu replied, ‘This is that in which Kṛṣṇa has placed the nectar of his lips. This is rare for Brahmā and others to attain, and it belittles amṛta. The remainder of what Kṛṣṇa has eaten is called phelā (remnants). One who attains one morsel of this is fortunate. Attainment of this does not come about from ordinary fortune. One who receives Kṛṣṇa’s full grace attains this. The word ‘sukṛti’ refers to puṇya (purifying action) the cause of which is Kṛṣṇa’s grace [or, puṇya (purifying action) which is the cause of Kṛṣṇa’s grace]. One who has this [type of puṇya] attains [Kṛṣṇa’s] phelā and is fortunate.’”

koṭi-amṛta-svāda pāñā prabhura camatkāra |
sarvāṅge pulaka, netre vahe aśru-dhāra ||
ei dravye eta svāda kāhā̐ haite āila? |
kṛṣṇera adharāmṛta ihā̐ sañcārila ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 3.16.93–4)

“Getting a taste ten million times greater than amṛta, Prabhu was astonished. Horripilation occurred all over his body, and streams of tears flowed from his eyes. [He mused:] ‘Where has such taste in this substance come from? [He concluded:] The amṛta of Kṛṣṇa’s lips has been infused into it.’”

āmāke praṇati kare, haya pāpa-kṣaya |
tabe se ihāre bhakti laoyāile laya ||
praṇatite habe ihāra aparādha kṣaya |
nirmala hṛdaye bhakti kariba udaya ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 1.17.263, 266)

[Śrīman Mahāprabhu deliberating on how to deliver the students of Navadvīpa who had misunderstood him and begun to defame him:] “If they offer obeisance to me, their sin [i.e., aparādha] will be removed. Then if I prompt them to take to bhakti, they will take to it. … By offering obeisance, their aparādha will be removed, and then I will manifest bhakti in their untainted hearts.”
