श्रुत: सङ्कीर्तितो ध्यात: पूजितश्चाद‍ृतोऽपि वा ।
नृणां धुनोति भगवान् हृत्स्थो जन्मायुताशुभम् ॥

śrutaḥ saṅkīrtito dhyātaḥ pūjitaś cādṛto’pi vā |
nṛṇāṁ dhunoti bhagavān hṛt-stho janmāyatāśubham ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 12.3.46)

“When heard about, highly praised, meditated upon, worshipped, or even honored, Bhagavān, situated in the heart, removes ten-thousand births of human beings’ inauspiciousness.”

Commentary

citta-sthaḥ smṛtaḥ san, na kevalam etān eva doṣān harati, api tu prācīnārvācīnaṁ sarvam api pāpam ity āha—śrutaḥ iti |
(Sārārtha-darśinī-ṭīkā)

“Situated in the citta, that is, being remembered, Bhagavān does not remove only these faults, but rather even all prior and present sins [i.e., all the sns of one’s past lives and present life]. Thus, he speaks this verse (śrutaḥ …).”
