(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 1.6.29; cited in Prīti Sandarbha: 11)

“[Nārada:] When that pure figure related to Bhagavān [i.e., the form of an associate (pārṣada) of Bhagavān] was being bestowed upon me, the body [made] of the five elements, the commenced (prārabdha) karma of which was exhausted, fell away.”

(Prīti Sandarbha: 11)

“The figure which was promised to be given by Śrī Bhagavān as per [his statement in SB 1.6.24], ‘After having given up this condemnable domain [i.e., body], you will attain the position of being my person [i.e., associate]’—when that figure, which was related to Bhagavān, that is, which was a form [made] of a portion of the luster of a portion of Bhagavān, and pure, that is, free from the touch of prakṛti, was being bestowed upon me, that is, being brought [to me], the body [made] of the five elements, the commenced (prārabdha) karma of which was exhausted, that is, completed, fell away. [Here,] The downfall of the old subtle body (liṅga-śarīra) is also indicated because of the continued existence of that only as far as commenced (prārabdha) karma [lasts] in the case of such fixity in Bhagavān [i.e., when a bhakta has fixity in Bhagavān like that which Śrī Nārada had]. In the very same way, the commentary [of Śrī Śrīdhara Svāmipāda] also [says]: ‘By this [statement of Nārada], the bodies of associates (pārṣadas) [of Bhagavān] being not [products] of commenced (prārabdha) karma, being pure, being eternal, and so forth, is indicated.”
