kṣīre śyāmalayārpite kamalayā viśrāṇite phāṇite
datte laḍḍuni bhadrayā madhu-rase sobhābhayā lambhite |

(Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmīpāda; cited in Padyāvalī: 118)

“O Hari,
The satisfaction you felt in the kṣīra offered by Śyāmalā,
The phāṇita (vātāsā) presented by Kamalā,
The laḍḍus given by Bhadrā,
And the honey brought by Candrāvalī—
May you take a hundred times more pleasure than that
In this delectable offering placed before you by me
On the order of Rādhā.”

“My virtuous, wise, and one-pointed bhaktas [i.e., my bhaktas who foster prīti solely for me] do not desire anything, not even absolute non-repetition of birth [i.e., mokṣa] when offered [to them] by me.”

“[Gajendra to Śrī Bhagavān:] I praise him, the Supreme Brahman, the Supreme Īśa—inexhaustible, unmanifest, knowable by means of the yoga related to the Self, beyond the senses, as though minute, very far off, infinite, original, and fully complete—from whom the one-pointed, those who have taken full shelter in Bhagavān and are immersed in an ocean of bliss by singing of his highly astonishing and most auspicious activities, desire no object whatsoever.”

tasya ca bhaved dvayaṁ vipralambhaḥ sambhogaś ceti

(Prīti Sandarbha: 370)

“It [i.e., ujjvala-rasa], furthermore, shall have two varieties: (1) vipralambha [i.e., separation] and (2) sambhoga [i.e., enjoyment together]. Therein, vipralambha is [known as] that the attainment (lambha) of which occurs because of distance (vipra—viprakarṣa) [between the couple, lit., the ‘drawing apart’ of the couple], as is described [in Ujjvala-nīlamaṇi 15.2], ‘That bhāva of a couple, [be they] non-united or united together [at a given time], which is distinctly brought forth when their mutually desired embraces and so forth are not attained, and which is a cause of the elevation of [their] sambhoga, is to be known as vipralambha [i.e., separation].’ … This vipralambha has four varieties: (1) pūrva-rāga [lit., ‘prior attachment,’ that is, the vipralambha felt by a couple after they have developed attachment (rāga) to one another but prior to their ever meeting one another], (2) māna [i.e., jealous anger], (3) prema-vaicittya [lit., ‘bewilderment because of prema’], and (4) pravāsa [i.e., dwelling abroad]. Then, that bhāva in which a united couple’s enjoyment (bhoga) occurs on account of being joined together is called sambhoga [lit., ‘enjoyment (bhoga) together (sam)’], as is described [in Ujjvala-nīlamaṇi 15.188], ‘That bhāva that elevates a couple’s elation by means of acts of service [for one another], such as looking [at one another] and embracing [one another], out of favorability (anukūlya) [towards one another] is called sambhoga [i.e., enjoyment together].’”

(Bhāvanā-sāra-saṅgraha: Upasaṁhara, 3)

“Humble in mind,
I fall to the earth
And praise the lotus feet of Śrī Rūpa,
By whom the people [of the world] have been immersed
In the ocean of the nectar of Śrī Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa’s līlā,
And by empowering whom with profuse grace
Śrīmac Caitanyacandra so also revealed to everyone
The rasa of the madhura-rati found in Śrīmad Vṛndāvana.”

(Unknown source; cited in Sādhana-dīpikā: 2)

“May Gaura Govinda—
He by the splendor of whose feet
Madana [i.e., Kāma] is vanquished,
He by the splendor of whose face
The pride of lotuses and jewels is crushed,
He at whose feet Śrī Rūpa has taken shelter—
Bestow grace upon me.”

“The desire arises to compose
Songs and fine prose and poetry,
And aho!
The pride, ‘I am a poet (kavi)’
Seldom ever becomes crushed,
So long as the discourse of Śrīmad Rūpa and Sanātana
And the extraordinary poetry
Of Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī and Śrī Govinda Kavi
Shall not enter the ear!”

“Aho!
Forever I hold upon my forehead
The pollen of the lotus feet of Śrīmad Rūpa,
Which upon being smelled [just] slightly
Have drawn the bee [lit., nectar-drinker] of my heart
To the desire-tree of Kṛṣṇa’s feet,
Which with their own nectars
Have caused forgetfulness of the rut juice
Of the elephant of saṁsāra,
And even a minute trace of the fragrance of which
Attracts even the best of the sages
And fills them with intense desire.”

(Padma Purāṇa: 5.97.27; cited in Hari-bhakti-vilāsa: 1.107; Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu: 2.4.142; Laghu-bhāgavatāmṛta: 1.2.53; Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 2.20.142)

“Let the various Purāṇas and Āgamas chatter about the [supposed] supremacy of various devatās for the sake of deluding the world of moving and stationary beings to the end of the kalpa. When, however, the expressions of all the Āgamas are brought into conjoint examination, then, in accord with their siddhānta, one alone, Bhagavān Viṣṇu, is ascertained [to be supreme].”
