विरक्तिरिन्द्रियार्थानां स्यादरोचकता स्वयम् ॥
viraktir indriyārthānāṁ syād arocakatā svayam ||
(Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu: 1.3.30)
“A self-manifest absence of taste for objects of the senses shall be [considered] non-attachment (virakti).”
Commentary
atra kāraṇa-kāryayor virakty-arocakatayor abhedoktir anyonyāvyabhicāritvāpekṣayā |

“Here there is a statement of the non-difference between non-attachment and an absence of taste, that is, of cause and effect, considering their mutual invariability [i.e., their invariably occurring together on account of their being the cause and effect of one another].”
