वनं गृहं नोऽभवदालयो वनं
द्विषत्सुहृद्बन्धुगणश्च वैरिणः ।
विषं च पीयूषमुतामृतं विषं
यदर्थमस्मात्त्वादृते म्रियामहे ॥
vanaṁ gṛhaṁ no’bhavad ālayo vanaṁ
dviṣat suhṛd bandhu-gaṇaś ca vairiṇaḥ |
viṣaṁ ca pīyūṣam utāmṛtaṁ viṣaṁ
yad-artham asmāt tvād ṛte mriyāmahe ||

“[The gopīs to Śrī Kṛṣṇa:] Without you, for the sake of whom the forest has become our home and our abode the forest, our enemies well-wishers, and our friends enemies, poison ambrosia and even nectar poison, we are dying.”
Commentary
asmāt tvattaḥ ṛte vinā mriyāmaha iti tat-tad-akhila-nirapekṣā eva vayaṁ kevalaṁ tvad-ekāvalambana-jīvanās tvad-viyogena katham adhunā jīvituṁ śakṣyāmo’to’cirān mariṣyāma evety arthaḥ |

“‘Without you, we are dying’ means, ‘Indifferent to all of this, how shall we, the support of whose lives is only you alone, be able to live now in separation from you? Therefore, we shall die soon.’ This is the meaning.”
