“Being such [i.e., although I am unable to restrict my mind from the pull of the senses upon it towards their various objects], I have approached your feet, which are difficult to attain for the asat. That too, furthermore, I consider your favor, O Īśa! When the cessation of saṁsāra shall come about for a person, O you of lotus navel, inclination towards you shall come about as a result of worship of the sat.”

(Excerpt from the Sārārtha-darśinī-ṭīkā)

“Although I am such (saḥ) [i.e., although I am unable to restrict my mind from the pull of the senses upon it towards their various objects], I have approached, that is, I have reached shelter, in your feet. That approaching of your feet, furthermore, is difficult to attain for persons who are asat. I consider (manye) that it is possible only when your favor (bhavad-anugrahe) comes about.

“[Bhagavān asks Akrūra:] ‘When shall my favor come about?’ To that, he says, ‘O you of lotus navel, when inclination towards you shall come about as a result of worship of the sat.’

“[Bhagavān then asks:] ‘When shall worship of the sat come about?’ To that, he says, ‘When the cessation, that is, the end-time, of saṁsāra shall come about for a person.’

“If [Bhagavān then asks], ‘When shall the end-time of saṁsāra come about?’ [Then] ‘When the independent (yādṛcchikī) grace of the sat shall come about’ is to be understood [as the answer]. Thus, first, there is the independent (yādṛcchikī) grace of the sat, then the beginning of the dissolution of saṁsāra, then worship of the sat, and then inclination towards Kṛṣṇa. This is the progression.”
