क उत्सहेत सन्त्यक्तुमुत्तमःश्लोकसंविदम् ।
अनिच्छतोऽपि यस्य श्रीरङ्गान्न च्यवते क्वचित् ॥
ka utsaheta santyaktum uttamaḥśloka-saṁvidam |
anicchato’pi yasya śrīr aṅgān na cyavate kvacit ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 10.47.48)
“[The gopīs to Uddhava:] Who could completely give up perception of [alt., private conversations with] he of highest praise, from whose chest Śrī never strays even when he is nonchalant?”
Commentary
kiṁ ca, lobhī khalu lobhyaṁ vastu prāpnotu na prāpnotu vā kintu tatrautsukyaṁ tyaktuṁ notsahate ity āhuḥ—ka iti | uttamaḥ ślokasya kṛṣṇasya saṁvidaṁ saundarya-mādhuryādy-upalabdhiṁ tyaktuṁ ka utsaheta no ko’pi | śriyam anapekṣamāṇasyāpi yasya śrīr lakṣmī rekhā-rūpeṇa vartamānā aṅgād vakṣasaḥ kadāpi na cyavate nāvayāti |

“Furthermore, one who is truly intensely desirous (lobhī) [of a particular object] may attain, or may not attain, the desired object, but [regardless] cannot give up eagerness for it. Thus, they [i.e., the gopīs] say ka … [i.e., the speak SB 10.47.48]. Who could give up perception (saṁvidam), meaning, observation of the beauty, sweetness (mādhurya), and so forth, of he of highest praise, that is, Kṛṣṇa? No one at all. Even when he is indifferent to Śrī, that is, Lakṣmī, Śrī [who is] present on whose [i.e., his] chest (aṅga) in the form of a line, never strays [from there].”
