अहमुच्चावचैर्द्रव्यै: क्रिययोत्पन्नयानघे ।
नैव तुष्येऽर्चितोऽर्चायां भूतग्रामावमानिन: ॥

aham uccāvacair dravyaiḥ kriyayotpannayānaghe |
naiva tuṣye’rcito’rcāyāṁ bhūta-grāmāvamāninaḥ ||

[Kapiladeva:] “O sinless one [i.e., O mother], I am certainly not pleased when worshipped in the deity with rites performed with variegated materials by one who disrespects [i.e., engages in defamation of other] living beings.”

Commentary

The following verse is cited in the Krama-sandarbha-ṭīkā, Bhakti Sandarbha (106), and the Sārārtha-darśinī-ṭīkā on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 3.29.24:

na tathā tapyate viddhaḥ pumān bāṇais tu marma-gaiḥ |
yathā tudanti marma-sthā hy asatāṁ paruṣeṣavaḥ ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 11.23.3)

“But a person pierced by arrows penetrating his heart is not so pained as one is when the arrows of the harsh speech of the wicked strike and remain fixed in the heart.”

nindāpi dveṣa-samā | kiṁ vā … ity-ukta-rītyā tato’dhiketi [nindā dveṣād apy adhiketi] … |

“Defamation too is equal to enmity, and furthermore, as per the aforementioned guideline [i.e., that given in SB 11.23.3], it is greater [i.e., defamation is even worse than enmity].”
