यावत्ते मायया स्पृष्टा भ्रमाम इह कर्मभिः ।
तावद्भवत्प्रसङ्गानां सङ्गः स्यान्नो भवे भवे ॥
yāvat te māyayā spṛṣṭā bhramāma iha karmabhiḥ |
tāvad bhavat-prasaṅgānāṁ saṅgaḥ syān no bhave bhave ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 4.30.33)
“As long as we who are affected by your māyā shall wander here [in this world] in accord with our karmas, let us have the association of those endowed with deep attachment to you in birth after birth.”
Commentary
Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmīpāda comments in his Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā in regard to this verse cited in HBV 10.292 that as per the rules of elision (sandhi) the word “affected” (spṛṣṭā) can also be interpreted to be “unaffected” (aspṛṣṭā) and the second instance of the word “birth” (bhave) can also be interpreted to be “non-birth” (abhave), in which case the meaning becomes that the Pracetās pray to receive sat-saṅga as long as they remain in the realm of saṁsāra and also after they become liberated from it (yad vā yāvat karmabhir bhramāmo māyayā aspṛṣṭā muktā vā bhavāmaḥ, evaṁ bhave saṁsāre abhave ca mokṣe saṅgaḥ syāt):
“As long as we who are unaffected by your māyā [i.e., liberated (mukta)] shall wander here [in this world] in accord with our karmas, let us have the association of those endowed with deep attachment to you in birth [i.e., in the case of any future birth here in saṁsāra] and in non-birth [also, i.e., in the case of our mokṣa, that is, our entering Śrī Vaikuṇṭhaloka].”
