विदग्धगोपालविलासिनीनां
सम्भोगचिह्नाङ्कितसर्वगात्रम् ।
पवित्रमाम्नायगिरामगम्यं
ब्रह्म प्रपद्ये नवनीतचौरम् ॥

sambhoga-cihnāṅkita-sarva-gātram |
pavitram āmnāya-girām agamyaṁ

“His entire body
Marked with the signs of enjoyment
With artful gopī lovers,
Pure,
And unattainable by the words of Vedas—
I take shelter in Brahman,
The thief of fresh butter.”
Commentary
kauśikī-vṛtti-gānādy-abhiprāyeṇa śrī-kṛṣṇasya prātaḥ-kālīna-rūpa-līlādi-smaraṇa-kīrtanārthaṁ likhati—vidagdheti | pavitram api veda-vākyāgocaram | para-brahmāpi vidagdhānāṁ gopa-ramaṇīnāṁ sambhogasya cihnair nakha-kṣatādibhir aṅkitāni sarva-gātrāṇi yasya taṁ prapadye | navanītasya prātar dadhi-manthanotthitasya cauraṁ cauryeṇa bhakṣayantam ity arthaḥ | tathā ca tac-cihnāṅkitam api jñeyam |

“The author writes this verse (vidagdha … ) for the purpose of remembering and praising the figure, līlā, and so forth of Śrī Kṛṣṇa in the morning time with reference to the singing and so forth in Kauśikī-vṛtti [i.e., a style of drama associated with śṛṅgāra-rasa, the sentiment of amour]. I take shelter in he who, although pure (pavitram), is beyond the words of the Vedas (āmnāya-girām agamyaṁ), and who although Parabrahman (Brahma), has his entire body marked with signs, such as nail scratches, of enjoyment (sambhoga-cihnāṅkita-sarva-gātram) with artful gopa women (vidagdha-gopāla-vilāsinīnāṁ). ‘The thief of fresh butter’ (navanīta-cauram) refers to he who is eating fresh butter produced by churning yoghurt in the morning after stealing [it], and so is to be known as also marked with the signs thereof.”
