तदीयनामेहितगानतत्परा
विचित्रवेशाम्बरकान्तिभूषिताः ।
रमातिसौभग्यमदप्रहारिका
जवेन कृष्णातटमाश्रयन्त ताः ॥
tadīya-nāmehita-gāna-tatparā
vicitra-veśāmbara-kānti-bhūṣitāḥ |
ramātisaubhagya-mada-prahārikā
javena kṛṣṇā-taṭam āśrayanta tāḥ ||

“Absorbed in singing his names and of his acts,
Adorned with extraordinary ornaments, garments, and embellishments,
And demolishing Ramā’s pride in her great beauty,
They swiftly converged on the bank of the Yamunā.”
Commentary
Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmīpāda explains in his commentary that the gopīs ran from the village to the bank of the Yamunā in the late afternoon because Śrī Kṛṣṇa would return along the riverbank as he made his way back to the village from the forest and they were extremely eager to behold him (Kṛṣṇāyāḥ Kālindyās taṭaṁ tīram āśrayanta tad-vartmanā Bhagavad-āgamanāt). The gopīs, moreover, are described as “absorbed in singing his names and of his acts” (tadīya-nāmehita-gāna-tatparā), that is, possessed of paramount fixity upon such singing, because of their never for any reason remaining without that (tadīyānāṁ Śrī-Nanda-nandana-sambandhināṁ nāmnām īhitānāṁ ca caritānāṁ gāne tat-parāḥ parama-niṣṭhāṁ prāptāḥ kadācit kathañcid api tad-rāhityābhāvāt).
