दिदृक्षुस्तदहं भूय: प्रणिधाय मनो हृदि ।
वीक्षमाणोऽपि नापश्यमवितृप्त इवातुर: ॥
एवं यतन्तं विजने मामाहागोचरो गिराम् ।
गम्भीरश्लक्ष्णया वाचा शुच: प्रशमयन्निव ॥
didṛkṣus tad ahaṁ bhūyaḥ praṇidhāya mano hṛdi |
vīkṣamāṇo’pi nāpaśyam avitṛpta ivāturaḥ ||
evaṁ yatantaṁ vijane mām āhāgocaro girām |
gambhīra-ślakṣṇayā vācā śucaḥ praśamayann iva ||

[Nārada:] “Desiring to see that [form of Bhagavān] again, I fixed my mind in my heart. Though I looked intently, I did not see [him]. Not fully satiated, I became as though diseased. As I endeavored in this way in seclusion, he who is inexpressible by words then spoke to me with deep, gentle words which somewhat alleviated my distress.”
Commentary
śucas tad-adarśanodbhūta-duḥkha-śokān praśamayan dūrīkurvan | atra viyogautkaṇṭhyavataḥ premṇaḥ sarvathā tṛpty-abhāva-dharmatvād iva-śabdaḥ

“‘Alleviated’ means removed [Nārada’s] distress, that is, the grief and sorrow produced by not seeing him [i.e., Bhagavān]. Here, the word ‘somewhat’ (iva) is used because the nature of the prema of one who is yearning in separation is that of a constant absence of satiation.”
