“[Please explain] The ‘full existence’ (saṁsthānam) of the puruṣa, that is, what in full form is the existence or nature of the worshipper (upāsaka) [i.e., the jīva], as well as the essential nature (svarūpam) ‘of the Supreme’ (Parasya), that is, the Object of worship (Upāsya), the Supreme Īśvara, and ‘that knowledge related to the Nigamas which is the aim of the guru and disciple’ (jñānaṁ ca naigamaṁ yat tad guru-śiṣya-prayojanam), that is, the knowledge of [i.e., related to] worship (upāsanā) stated in the Nigamas which is the aim of the guru and the disciple, the character of which is this, ‘[The guru wishes,] May this disciple learn [this knowledge] from me,’ and ‘[the disciple wishes,] I shall learn this bhakti from the guru.’”
