(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 3.25.13)

[Bhagavān Kapila to Devahūti:] “O Mother, I consider yoga related to the higher ātmā [i.e., Paramātmā, or the jīvātmā], wherein complete cessation of [sāṁsārika] suffering and happiness occur, to be [the means] for a living being’s ultimate well-being [i.e., mokṣa].”

Commentary

ādhyātmikaḥ jīvātma-niṣṭhaḥ yogaḥ niḥśreyasārtham upāyaḥ, sa ca bhaktir jñānaṁ yogaś ceti trividho vaktavyaḥ | tatra bhakti-pakṣe niḥśreyasam anusaṁhitaṁ phalaṁ jñeyam | yatra yoge sati sāṁsārikasya duḥkhasya sukhasya conmūlanam |
(Sārārtha-darśinī-ṭīkā)

“Yoga related to the higher ātmā (ādhyātmikaḥ), that is, relating to the jīvātmā, is the means for ultimate well-being, and this is said to be of three types, [namely,] bhakti, jñāna, and [aṣṭāṅga-] yoga. Therein, regarding bhakti, ultimate well-being is to be known as the determined result. “Wherein” (yatra), that is, when [such] yoga is present, then uprooting of sāmsārika suffering and happiness occur.”
