O you who are ornamented by the face of Govinda!
O you who are covered with flocks of peacocks
Maddened with longing and dancing
Inspired by the sound of the flute!
O you whose body is sprouting [with fresh green grass]
As a result of high waves from Rādhā Kuṇḍa!
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire
[for prema-sevā to Śrī Rādhā and Govinda].

He whose service to Hari
Is described as the best
By the Vraja-devīs
Whose minds were astonished
By his excellence—
He [who] fills all directions
With wondrous splendor
[By virtue of his sun-crystals, blue sapphires, rubies, and so forth]—
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

He who delights Īśa [i.e., Kṛṣṇa, along with his companions,
As though offering excellent hospitality to guests]
With caves felt to be like palaces,
With roots that are friends of the moon
[i.e., well nourished and thus very colorful and tasty],
And with water from waterfalls
Bright like cat’s eye—
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

O you whose peaks are splendid with minerals
[Of numerous bright colors]
That are pure
By virtue of the constant ornament
[Upon them in the form]
Of the ornamenter of the universe [i.e., Kṛṣṇa],
And [so also] washed with prema,
O you whose valleys
Forever, out of delight, cry
[i.e., shed tears in the form of streams]
At the sound of the flute—
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

प्राज्या राजिर्यस्य विराजत्युपलानां
कृष्णेनासौ सन्ततमध्यासितमध्या ।

He whose abounding range of stones
Shines with Kṛṣṇa seated continuously in their midst,
He who is the friend of the surabhis [i.e., cows],
And [thus] of charming nature—
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

निर्धुन्वानः संहृतिहेतुं घनवृन्दं
जित्वा जम्भारातिमसम्भावितबाधम् ।
स्वानां वैरं यः किल निर्यापितवान्सः

He who repelled the clouds
Which are the cause of total destruction [of the universe],
[Thereby] Defeated Indra,
Who was annoyed by being disregarded,
And [thus] vanquished the enemy of his kinsmen—
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

kṛṣṇopajñaṁ yasya makhas tiṣṭhati so’yaṁ
pratyāśāṁ me tvaṁ kuru govardhana pūrṇām ||7||

He who assumed the state of being an umbrella
Of the protector [of the people of Vraja, i.e., Kṛṣṇa],
Atop the staff of his [i.e., Kṛṣṇa’s] beautiful arm,
And made his own name factual
[i.e., proved he was appropriately named ‘Govardhana,’
That is, “one who causes the cows to prosper,”
By protecting them from Indra’s destructive rains],
He whose sacrifice was first established by Kṛṣṇa [himself]—
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

गान्धर्वायाः केलिकलाबान्धव कुञ्जे

O friend [i.e., assistant] of the amorous play of Gāndharvā [i.e., Śrī Rādhikā],
O you whose body is sanctified
With her ornaments and necklaces
[After they are] Broken in [your] kuñjas [in the course of līlā],
O you whose lowlands are adorned with the play of rāsa,
O Govardhana!
May you please fulfill my desire.

अद्रोश्रेणीशेखर पद्याष्टकमेतत्

O foremost of mountains!
O favorite of the cloud Kṛṣṇa!
[By your grace]
May the Lord of your heart [i.e., Śrī Kṛṣṇa],
With delight,
Accept and swiftly enrich
With an abundance of the bliss of prema [for himself]
An embodied being
Who shall recite this poem
Of eight verses about you.
