“Personal [i.e., a nāyikā’s own] affection for sakhīs is [described] as follows: ‘[Rūpa Mañjarī says to a sakhī of Lalitā:] Look! While sporting with Hari atop the mountain, her figure inlaid with budding pores [i.e., horripilation], Rādhikā wipes Lalitā’s charming face with disheveled locks.”

(Ānanda-candrikā-ṭīkā)
“Although related to a sakhī, a nāyikā’s affection [for a sakhī] becomes a vyabhicāri [-bhāva of her Kṛṣṇa-rati]. This is the meaning, as it is said in Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu itself:
sañcārī syāt samāno vā kṛṣṇa-ratyāḥ suhṛd-ratiḥ |
adhikā puṣyamāṇā ced bhāvollāsā ratiḥ ||
[“Rati for a friend (suhṛt) that is equal or otherwise to [i.e., lesser than] rati for Kṛṣṇa shall be [considered] a sañcāri [-bhāva]. If it is greater and flourishing [however], it is [called] bhāvollāsa-rati.”]
The meaning of this [verse] is that if suhṛd-rati, that is, rati the object of which is a friend (suhṛt), should be equal or lesser than rati the object of which is Kṛṣṇa (Kṛṣṇa-rati), then that shall be a sañcāri [-bhāva] because of suhṛd-rati’s having Śrī Kṛṣṇa-rati as its source and because of [its] nourishing of that [i.e., Kṛṣṇa-rati]. This is the purport. If suhṛd-rati should be sometimes greater than even Śrī Kṛṣṇa-rati and should flourish because of that [i.e., Kṛṣṇa-rati], then that is called bhāvollāsa. Its [i.e., suhṛd-rati’s] not being a sañcāri [-bhāva], and its also not being a sthāyi [-bhāva] is the purport. Rūpa Mañjarī speaks this verse (śaila …) to some sakhī of Lalitā. ‘Rādhikā wipes Lalitā’s face’ means she removes the excessive perspiration produced by play. Śrī Rādhā’s rati the object of which is Lalita [i.e., her suhṛd-rati] here, being a sañcāri-bhāva, nourishes her rati for Śrī Kṛṣṇa [i.e., in this verse in Ujjvala-nīlamaṇi, bhāvollāsa-rati is not described, since Rādhikā’s rati for her sakhīs is not greater than her rati for Kṛṣṇa, and rather described here is a vyabhicāri-bhāva (sañcari-bhāva) of Śrī Rādhikā’s rati for Śrī Kṛṣṇa in the form of affection for her sakhī Lalitā].”
