(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 11.10.1–2)

“[Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa to Uddhava:] Attentive to one’s dharmas as stated by me and desireless, one whose shelter is in me should observe the conduct of one’s varṇa, āśrama, and family. [Thus] Being of highly purified mind, one should repeatedly observe the reversal of all the endeavors based on thought of real existence in regard to qualities [in objects of the senses] of embodied beings whose minds are [fixed] upon objects of the senses.”

“Those of fine intellect verily worship with sacrifices consisting primarily of saṅkīrtana he whose name contains the syllables kṛṣ-ṇa [i.e., whose name is Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya] (kṛṣṇa-varṇam), who is non-swarthy (akṛṣṇam) by virtue of his luster (tviṣā), and who is replete with the weapons and associates of his limbs and sub-limbs [i.e., ornaments and so forth].”

“Thus, by embracing [them], touching [their] hands, affectionately glancing [at them], unrestrainedly playing [with them], and smiling [at them], the Lord of Ramā enjoyed with the beauties of Vraja like a boy frolicking with his own reflection.”

(Tattva Sandarbha: 2; cited in Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 1.3.80)

“Through saṅkīrtana and so forth in [the Age of] Kali, we have taken shelter in Kṛṣṇa Caitanya, who is internally Kṛṣṇa, externally golden, and manifest with the magnificence of his limbs and so forth [i.e., along with his sub-limbs, weapons, and associates].”

(Siddhānta-ratna: 1.4; Ṭīkā on Tattva Sandarbha: 1)

“The two foremost knowers of the Absolute
On the surface of the earth
Who have revealed the Absolute
Known as Govinda
Whose feet are the shelter of Indirā (Lakṣmī)
Like a jewel or otherwise present in their hands;
The illustrious sun and moon
Against the covering
Of the dense darkness of māyāvāda;
They who have [thus] performed [alt., composed] wonders
And are [thereby] most exalted—
We perpetually praise these two:
Śrī Rūpa and Śrī Sanātana.”

(Govinda-vilāsa; cited in Ujjvala-nīlamaṇi: 14.2)

“He whose core is pierced
By the astonishment produced by the gopīs’ side-long glances,
Which are vigilant like the flickering tip of the tongue
In the mouth of a black snake;
He by the movements along the reddish edges
Of whose rolling eyes
The hearts of chaste women
Are pulverized—
May [he,] Mukunda
Beget delight.”

(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 11.17.52–54)

“Even a householder should not be attached to the household and should not be negligent. A wise person should see even the unseen, like the seen, to be transitory. The meeting of sons, wife, relatives, and friends is [just like] a meeting of wayfarers. They [i.e., sons and so forth] vanish after the body [dies] just as a dream does following sleep. Deliberating in this way and dwelling in houses like a guest, a detached person free from possessiveness and egotism will not become bound by houses.”

“[Śrī Kṛṣṇa presents a riddle:]
‘They attain satisfaction from another person’s satisfaction,
Are greatly troubled by [by another person’s] trouble,
Experience no elation or misery
Because of the personal pleasures and troubles they undergo,
And are devoted to the worship of their own Iṣṭa
Like the multitudes of blessed Vaiṣṇavas here—
Consider and tell [me],
O you of moon face,
Who are they?’
[Śrī Rādhā replies:]
‘They are these friends of mine!’”
