अपूर्वप्रेमाब्धेः परिमलपयःफेननिवहैः
सदा यो जीवातुर्यमिह कृपयासिञ्चदतुलम् ।
इदानीं दुर्दैवात्प्रतिपदविपद्दाववलितो
निरालम्बः सोऽयं कमिह तमृते यातु शरणम् ॥
apūrva-premābdheḥ parimala-payaḥ-phena-nivahaiḥ
sadā yo jīvātur yam iha kṛpayāsiñcad atulam |
idānīṁ durdaivāt pratipada-vipad-dāva-valito
nirālambaḥ so’yaṁ kam iha tam ṛte yātu śaraṇam ||

“Now, in the wake of misfortune, who shall he who is shelterless and surrounded by a forest fire of constant adversity take shelter in here besides he who is his vitality and who always graciously and matchlessly showered him here with heaps of foam from the fragrant water of the ocean of unprecedented prema?”
Commentary
The author, Śrī Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī, speaks of himself in third person out of humility and refers to Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī as “he who is his vitality” (jīvātuḥ) and “[he] who always showered him ….” The misfortune (durdaiva) he speaks of is the passing of Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī, and the “heaps of foam from the fragrant water of the ocean of unprecedented prema” refer to the narrations of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa’s līlās that Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī composed and shared with Śrī Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī that gave Śrī Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī the feeling of being immersed in a ocean of highly relishable prema.
