“In a temple of Keśava, one should not perform japa, homa, or namaskāra [i.e., obeisance] in front, behind, on the left side, very near, or in the sanctum sanctorum [of the deity].”

(Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā)
“‘In front’ (agre) and so forth specifically of Bhagavān [i.e., the deity of Bhagavān in the temple] is to be understood [i.e., the mention of ‘in front’ and so on means in front and so on of the deity of Bhagavān in the temple]. One should not perform [japa, homa, or namaskāra] there. ‘In a temple of Keśava’ (Keśavālaye) indicates that one should rather perform [japa, homa, and namaskāra] in a place other than the temple.”
