  • tasmai namo’stu nirupādhi-kṛpākulāya
    śrī-gopa-rāja-tanayāya gurūttamāya |
    yaḥ kārayan nija-janaṁ svayam eva bhaktiṁ
    tasyātituṣyati yathā paramopakartuḥ ||
    (Bṛhad Bhāgavatāmṛta: 2.7.157)

    “May [my] obeisance be [offered] unto him,
    The blessed Son of the cowherds’ king,
    The most exalted of gurus,
    Overcome with unconditional compassion,
    Who entirely of his own accord
    Causes persons who are his own
    To engage in bhakti [to himself]
    And becomes greatly satisfied with them
    Just as [one does] with a paramount benefactor.”

  • svayaṁ pravartitaiḥ kṛtsnair mamaital-likhana-śramaiḥ |
    śrīmac-caitanya-rūpo’sau bhagavān prīyatāṁ sadā ||
    (Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā on Bṛhad Bhāgavatāmṛta: 2.7.157)

    “May he, Bhagavān,
    Possessed of the form of blessed Caitanya,
    Always be pleased
    With the entirety of this writing effort of mine
    Prompted by himself.”

    A second translation in accord with the second intended meaning of the verse:

    “May he,
    Divine Rūpa [the dear servant] of blessed Caitanya,
    Always be pleased
    With the entirety of this writing effort of mine
    Prompted by himself.”

  • so’haṁ tavāṅghry-upagato’smy asatāṁ durāpaṁ
    tac cāpy ahaṁ bhavad-anugraha īśa manye |
    puṁso bhaved yarhi saṁsaraṇāpavargas
    tvayy abja-nābha sad-upāsanayā matiḥ syāt ||
    (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 10.40.28)

    “Being such [i.e., although I am unable to restrict my mind from the pull of the senses upon it towards their various objects], I have approached your feet, which are difficult to attain for the asat. That too, furthermore, I consider your favor, O Īśa! When the cessation of saṁsāra shall come about for a person, O you of lotus navel, inclination towards you shall come about as a result of worship of the sat.”

  • āmnāya-prathitānvayā smṛtimatī bāḍhaṁ ṣaḍ-aṅgojjvalā
    nyāyenānugatā purāṇa-suhṛdā mīmāṁsayā maṇḍitā |
    tvāṁ labdhāvasarā cirād guru-kule prekṣya sva-saṅgārthinaṁ
    vidyā nāma vadhūś caturdaśa-guṇā govinda śuśrūṣate ||
    (Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu: 2.1.77; cited in Sāhitya-kaumudī: 6.3)

    “[Siddhas and Cāraṇas praise Śrī Kṛṣṇa:] O Govinda,
    The young bride named Knowledge,
    Whose lineage is extended by the [four] Vedas,
    Who is possessed of the Smṛtis,
    Who is exceedingly bright with the six [Veda-] aṅgas,
    Who is followed by Nyāya,
    Who is decorated by Mīmāṁsā
    The friends of which are the Purāṇas,
    Who is [thus] possessed of fourteen attributes,
    And who upon seeing you seeking her own company
    At the house of a guru
    Has found an opportunity after a long time,
    Desires to serve [you].”

    A second translation as per the second intended meaning of the verse:

    “[Siddhas and Cāraṇas praise Śrī Kṛṣṇa:] O Govinda,
    The young bride named Knowledge,
    Whose family is renowned for [its] nobility,
    Who is endowed with good memory,
    Whose six parts are exceedingly bright,
    Who is observant of good conduct,
    Who is decorated with discernment
    The supporters of which are elders,
    Who is present in the home of [her] parents,
    Who upon seeing you seeking her own company
    Has found an opportunity after a long time,
    And is [thus] possessed of fourteen qualities,
    Desires to serve [you].”

  • pataty asre sāsrā bhavati pulake jāta-pulakāḥ
    smite bhāti smerāḥ sumalimaṇi jāte sumalināḥ |
    anāsādya svālīr mukuram abhivīkṣya sva-vadanaṁ
    sukhaṁ vā duḥkhaṁ vā kim api kathanīyaṁ mṛga-dṛśaḥ ||
    (Alaṅkāra-kaustubha: 3.54)

    “O you all of doe-eyes, when your tears fall, they have tears [in their eyes]. When your horripilation occurs, horripilation arises in them. When you have a smile, they have smiles. When your severe dejection occurs, they become severely dejected. [But when] Not having met your own friends, what sort of happiness or sadness there is [expressed on your face] can be said [by you only] after looking at your own face in a mirror.”

  • yā nirvṛtis tanu-bhṛtāṁ tava pāda-padma-
    dhyānād bhavaj-jana-kathā-śravaṇena vā syāt |
    sā brahmaṇi sva-mahimany api nātha mā bhūt
    kiṁ tv antakāsi-lulitāt patatāṁ vimānāt ||
    (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 4.9.10; cited in Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu: 1.2.29)

    “O Lord, that bliss which can arise for embodied beings from meditation upon your lotus feet or through hearing narratives of persons who are your own does not occur even in [realization of] Brahman, your own [all-pervading] greatness. How then could it occur for [the devas of Svarga,] those who [all eventually] fall from airplanes slashed by the sword of death [i.e., time]?”
