जायतेऽस्ति वर्धते विपरिणमतेऽपक्षीयते नश्यति ।

jāyate’sti vardhate vipariṇamate’pakṣīyate naśyati |
(Nirukti: 1.2; cited in the Gītā-bhūṣaṇa-ṭīkā on BG 2.20)

“One [i.e., a living being in saṁsāra] is born, exists, grows, changes, decays, and is destroyed.”

Commentary

The six actions mentioned in this verse of Yāska are known as the six states of being or transformations of the field (kṣetra). They are alluded to in Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā 13.6 and other places in śāstra.
