namo’stu te mahāyogin prapannam anuśādhi mām |
yathā tvac-caraṇāmbhoje ratiḥ syād anapāyinī ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 11.29.40)
“[Uddhava to Kṛṣṇa:] May my obeisance be [offered] unto you, O greatest of yogīs. Please instruct me, who have taken shelter [in you], so that I may have everlasting rati for your lotus feet.”
bhave bhave yathā bhaktiḥ pādayos tava jāyate |
tathā kuruṣva deveśa nāthas tvaṁ no yataḥ prabho ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 12.13.22)
“O Lord of the devas! Please act so that bhakti to your feet appears [within us] birth after birth, since you are our Master, O Prabhu!”
śoṇa-snigdhāṅguli-dala-kulaṁ jāta-rāgaṁ parāgaiḥ
śrī-rādhāyāḥ stana-mukulayoḥ kuṅkuma-kṣoda-rūpaiḥ |
bhakta-śraddhā-madhu-nakha-mahaḥ-puñja-kiñjalka-jālaṁ
jaṅghā-nālaṁ caraṇa-kamalaṁ pātu naḥ pūtanāreḥ ||
(Ānanda-vṛndāvana-campū: 1.2)
“[Consisting of] The stem of his shanks,
The petals of his crimson, tender toes,
The filament cluster of the radiance of his toenails,
And the nectar of bhaktas’ śraddhā,
And reddened by the pollen
Of the ground kumkum from the buds of Śrī Rādhā’s breasts—
May the lotus of the feet of Pūtanā’s Foe protect us.”
sarva-prapañcātītānāṁ teṣāṁ vaikuṇṭha-vāsinām |
tasya vaikuṇṭha-lokasya tasya tan-nāyakasya ca ||
tāni māhātmya-jātāni prapañcāntargataiḥ kila |
dṛṣṭāntair nopayujyante na śakyante ca bhāṣitum ||
tathāpi bhavato brahman prapañcāntargatasya hi |
prapañca-parivārāntardṛṣṭi-garbhita-cetasaḥ ||
tad-dṛṣṭānta-kulenaiva tat tat syād bodhitaṁ sukham |
tathety ucyeta yat kiñcit tad-āgaḥ kṣamatāṁ hariḥ ||
(Bṛhad Bhāgavatāmṛta: 2.4.40–43)
“The greatnesses of the residents of Vaikuṇṭha beyond the entire phenomenal world, of Vaikuṇṭhaloka, and of its master [i.e., Vaikuṇṭhanātha, who like Vaikuṇṭhaloka and its residents is so also beyond the entire phenomenal world] are certainly not fit, and not able, to be described with examples from within the phenomenal world. Still, O brāhmaṇa, for you who are within the phenomenal world and the inner vision [i.e., awareness] of whose mind is filled with the coverings of the phenomenal world, those [greatnesses] can be easily made known only through such examples [i.e., examples drawn from the phenomenal world]. ‘It may be said to be such.’ May Hari forgive the offense of whatever may be said as such [i.e., whatever may be said of those greatnesses by means of stating examples drawn from the phenomenal world, such as, ‘He [i.e., Bhagavān] is like an emperor’].”
śāstrera siddhānta ei vijñera anubhava |
mūḍha-loka nāhi jāne bhāvera vaibhava ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 1.6.104)
“This is the śāstra’s siddhānta and the experience of the wise. Ignorant people do not understand the greatness of bhāva.”
mahad-anubhava yāte sudṛḍha-pramāṇa |
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 1.6.53)
“… Since the perception of the great is the strongest means of knowing (pramāṇa).”
pitṛ-deva-manuṣyāṇāṁ vedaś cakṣus taveśvara |
śreyas tv anupalabdhe’rthe sādhya-sādhanayor api ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 11.20.4; cited in Tattva Sandarbha: 11)
“O Lord, regarding an imperceptible object, as well as the goal and the means [pertaining to it], your Veda is the best eye for the forefathers, the devas, and human beings.”
yadi dāsyasi me kāmān varāṁs tvaṁ varadarṣabha |
kāmānāṁ hṛdy asaṁrohaṁ bhavatas tu vṛṇe varam ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 7.10.7)
[Prahlāda Mahārāja to Nṛsiṁhadeva:] “O best giver of boons! If you wish to bestow desired boons upon me, then I pray from you the boon of non-growth [i.e., non-existence] of desires within my heart.”
nānyathā te’khila-guro ghaṭeta karuṇātmanaḥ |
yas ta āśiṣa āśāste na sa bhṛtyaḥ sa vai vaṇik ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 7.10.4)
[Prahlāda Mahārāja to Nṛsiṁhadeva:] “Otherwise, this [i.e., your presently prompting me in this way] would not happen, since you are compassionate, O Guru of all! One who desires benedictions from you is not a servant. He is just a merchant!”
aprameyānubhāvo’yam akutaścid-bhayo’maraḥ |
nūnam etad-virodhena mṛtyur me bhavitā na vā ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 7.5.47)
[Hiraṇyakaśipu of Prahlāda Mahārāja:] “He is of immeasurable might, completely fearless, and deathless. My death will certainly occur as a result of opposing him, or may not.”
