ब्रह्मार्पणं ब्रह्म हविर्ब्रह्माग्नौ ब्रह्मणा हुतम् ।
ब्रह्मैव तेन गन्तव्यं ब्रह्मकर्मसमाधिना ॥
brahmārpaṇaṁ brahma havir brahmāgnau brahmaṇā hutam |
brahmaiva tena gantavyaṁ brahma-karma-samādhinā ||
(Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā: 4.24)
“The ladle is Brahman. The oblation is Brahman. The [act of] offering is Brahman [performed] by Brahman into the fire [which is] of [the nature of] Brahman. By one who is consciously absorbed in the action [which is] of [the nature of] Brahman, that which is to be attained [the goal of performing the offering] is Brahman alone.”
Commentary
(1) The offering [i.e., the act of offering], (2) the object being offered [i.e., the oblation of ghee], (3) the instrument for making the offering [i.e., the ladle], (4) the fire into which the offering is made, (5) the person performing the offering, and (6) the objective attained by performing the offering are all Brahman.
