“The conventional [meaning of a word] (ruḍḥi) is stronger than the etymological [meaning of that word] (yoga).”
Commentary
The rūḍhi, that is, conventional, meaning, of a word is always the primary meaning of the word. If the rūḍhi meaning of a word differs from the yoga meaning, the rūḍhi meaning should be given first consideration and understood to possess the highest hermeneutical force.
