“Anything may become of a monkey who, while drinking alcohol, is bitten by a scorpion and possessed by a ghost.”

Commentary

The monkey spoken of here alludes to the human mind, and the wine, scorpion bite, and possession by a ghost allude to the influences of pride, lust, anger, and so forth. Satirically, “anything may happen,” implies that there is no telling how bad a person may act when driven by these harmful influences.
