yadā kiñcij-jño’haṁ dvipa iva madāndhas samabhavaṁ

yadā kiñcij-jño’haṁ dvipa iva madāndhas samabhavaṁ
tadā sarvajño’smīty abhavad avaliptaṁ mama manaḥ |
yadā kiñcit kiñcid budhajana-sakāśād avagataṁ
tadā mūrkho’smīti jvara iva mado me vyapagataḥ ||
(Nīti-śatakam: 8)

“When I had a little knowledge
and became blinded with pride
like an elephant [in rut],
then my mind became arrogant,
as I thought, ‘I know everything.’
When I understood a little something from wise persons,
then I thought, ‘I am a fool,’
and my pride faded away like a fever.

dīnere adhika dayā kare bhagavān |
kulīna, paṇḍita, dhanīra baḍa abhimāna ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 3.4.68)

”Bhagavān bestows greater grace upon the humble. The noble, learned, and wealthy have great pride.”

caitanya-caritāmṛta yei jana śune |
tā̐hāra caraṇa dhuñā karo̐ muñi pāne ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 3.20.151)

“I wash the feet of a person who listens to Caitanya-caritāmṛta and drink [the sanctified water thereafter].”

tathāpi tṛptiḥ kasyāpi naivodeti kadācana |
prema-tṛṣṇā ca vividhā dainya-mātā vivardhate ||
(Bṛhad Bhāgavatāmṛta: 2.6.213)

“Still [i.e., even though every Vraja-vāsīs feels that they alone are the most dear to Kṛṣṇa, acts as such with Kṛṣṇa, and observes Kṛṣṇa genuinely reciprocate with them as such], satiation never arises within even one of them. [Rather,] The thirst produced by [their] prema, which is variegated and the mother of dainya (humility), increases [continuously].”

tat te’nukampāṁ susamīkṣamāṇo
bhuñjāna evātma-kṛtaṁ vipākam |
hṛd-vāg-vapurbhir vidadhan namas te
jīveta yo mukti-pade sa dāya-bhāk ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 10.14.8)

“One who can perceive your grace fully and properly, endure the reactions to one’s own past actions, and live on offering obeisance unto you with mind, body, and words is an heir to the plane of mukti [i.e., freedom from ignorance and engagement in your eternal service].”
