Nara-līlā

yan martya-līlaupayikaṁ svayoga

yan martya-līlaupayikaṁ svayoga-
māyā-balaṁ darśayatā gṛhītam |
vismāpanaṁ svasya ca saubhagardheḥ
paraṁ padaṁ bhūṣaṇa-bhūṣaṇāṅgam ||

“To show the power of his own yogamāyā, he [i.e., Śrī Kṛṣṇa] assumed [that form of his] which is suited to human [-like] līlā, which is astonishing even to himself, which is the apogee of the excellence of loveliness, and in which the limbs are the ornaments of the ornaments [upon them].”

aho kila tad evāhaṁ manye bhagavato hareḥ |
sugopya-bhagavattāyāḥ sarva-sāra-prakāśanam ||
(Bṛhad Bhāgavatāmṛta: 2.5.88)

“Aho! I certainly consider that [i.e., the figure, qualities, pastimes, and so forth of Śrī Hari in Goloka] alone the manifestation of the essence of the entirety of the most confidential Bhagavattā of Bhagavān Hari!”

lokānugāpi sānyonyaṁ priyatātīta-laukikā |
madhurātyadbhutaiśvarya-laukikatva-vimiśritā ||
(Bṛhad Bhāgavatāmṛta: 2.5.84)

“Although following the [ways of] the world, that reciprocal fondness [of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣna and the Vraja-vāsīs] is beyond the worldly, sweet (madhurā), exceedingly astonishing, and specially mixed with worldliness and aiśvarya.”

ity ataḥ kathitā nitya-priyā yādava-vallavāḥ |
eṣāṁ laukikavac ceṣṭā līlā mura-ripor iva ||
(Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu: 2.1.296)

“Thus, the Yādavas and Vallavas [i.e., gopas] are said to be eternal dear ones [of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa]. Their activity, like the līlā of Mura-ripu [i.e., Śrī Kṛṣna] is like that of the world [i.e., although supramundane, it resembles in certain respects activity of the world].”

kṛṣṇera yateka khelā sarvottama nara-līlā
nara-vapu tāhāra svarūpa |
gopa-veśa, veṇu-kara nava-kiśora, naṭa-vara
nara-līlāra haya anurūpa ||
(Caitanya-caritāmṛta: 2.21.101)

“Of all of Kṛṣṇa’s play, his human [i.e., human-like] līlā is the supreme. His human form is his true nature. His cowherd dress, flute-in-hand, adolescence, and superb dancing [perfectly] suit his human līlā.”
