Ananyatā (Ananyatva)

avabodhitavān imāṁ yathā

avabodhitavān imāṁ yathā
mayi nityāṁ bhavadīyatāṁ svayam |
kṛpayaivam ananya-bhogyatāṁ
bhagavan bhaktim api prayaccha me ||
(Stotra-ratna: 54)

“As you yourself have made known this state of being eternally your own in me, O Bhagavān, so by your grace please also bestow upon me bhakti which has no other enjoyer [than you, i.e., bhakti which is performed solely for your enjoyment].”

paraṁ padaṁ vaiṣṇavam āmananti tad
yan neti netīty atad-utsisṛkṣavaḥ |
visṛjya daurātmyam ananya-sauhṛdā
hṛdopaguhyāvasitaṁ samāhitaiḥ ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 12.6.32)

“‘Not this,’ ‘not this, …’ those who are in this way desirous of giving up the unreal [i.e., the non-self] and [so also] of undivided affinity [i.e., of one-pointed affinity for Viṣṇu], having given up ill-naturedness [i.e., the notions of ‘I’ and ‘mine’], speak of the supreme nature of Viṣṇu, which is embraced with the heart and understood by the resolute [i.e., those absorbed in samādhi].”

taṁ sukhārādhyam ṛjubhir ananya-śaraṇair nṛbhiḥ |
kṛtajñaḥ ko na seveta durārādhyam asādhubhiḥ ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 3.19.36′; cited in Bhakti Sandarbha: 153)

“What grateful person would not worship he who is easily propitiated by persons who are sincere and of undivided shelter yet difficult to propitiate for the unvirtuous [i.e., those who are the opposite]?”

kiṁ citram acyuta tavaitad aśeṣa-bandho
dāseṣv ananya-śaraṇeṣu yad ātmasāttvam |
yo’rocayat saha mṛgaiḥ svayam īśvarāṇāṁ
śrīmat-kirīṭa-taṭa-pīḍita-pāda-pīṭhaḥ ||
(Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: 11.29.4)

“O infallible One (Acyuta)! O Friend of all! Is this subjection of yours to servants of unalloyed shelter [i.e., your servants who are averse to all practices of karma, jñāna, yoga, and so forth—everything apart from bhakti to you] astonishing for you, who yourself can delight [even] with animals, [even though you are also he] whose foot pedestal is shaken by the tips of the majestic crowns of īśvaras [i.e., Śiva, Brahmā, and others, when they bow down to you]?”

sādhur eva sa mantavyaḥ samyag vyavasito hi saḥ ||
(Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā: 9.30)

“If even a person of extreme misconduct serves me exclusively, he should be regarded as a sādhu because he is rightly resolved.”

ananyāś cintayanto māṁ ye janāḥ paryupāsate |
teṣāṁ nityābhiyuktānāṁ yoga-kṣemaṁ vahāmyaham ||
(Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā: 9.22)

“I [personally] provide the acquisition and protection [of the bodily necessities] of those one-pointed, meditative, and ever-absorbed persons who worship me in full.”
