ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ prātikūlya-vivarjanam

ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ prātikūlya-vivarjanam |
rakṣiṣyatīti viśvāso goptṛtve varaṇaṁ tathā ||
ātma-nikṣepa-kārpaṇye ṣaḍ-vidhā śaraṇāgatiḥ ||

“A resolve of favorability, rejection of unfavorability, conviction that he [i.e., Bhagavān] will protect, accepting [his] guardianship, pledging oneself [to him], and humility [alt., wretchedness, neediness, heartache] are the six aspects of śaraṇāgati.”

yeṣāṁ gurau na japye vā viṣṇau ca paramātmani |
nāsti bhaktiḥ sadā teṣāṁ vacanaṁ parivarjayet ||
(Vaiṣṇava Tantra; cited in Hari-bhakti-vilāsa: 12.418)

“Always completely reject the statements of those who do not have bhakti to guru, a mantra [lit., “that which is to be chanted”], or the Paramātmā Viṣṇu.”
